January - Blue Mountain Lake/Indian Lake Fish and Game Club holds their annual ice fishing tournament on Adirondack Lake. Festivities start at 8 AM until 3 PM with hourly prizes and other drawings.

Other winter activities include snowmobiling across Indian Lake, cross country skiing or snowshoeing on any of our hiking trails and lakes.

Indian Lake Winter Carnival is held over President’s Weekend in February. Fun activities include the popular Tricky Tray at Indian Lake Central School, Book Sale at the Town Hall put on by the Indian Lake Library and ski races and ice hockey at the town’s ski hill. Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce sponsors a craft show at the American Legion and Meal Site. Plus Chili Nights famous Jalapeno Eating Contest!

March brings St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Weekend! It is usually the second or third weekend of the month. Check with the Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce Website for the exact dates. Indian Lake Central School sponsors a Hat Parade and each hat is judged for largest, smallest, most unusual, etc. Festivities include road bowling on Saturday - 4 person teams should register at the Chamber of Commerce Information Center and a Mutt Strutt Dog show at Ski Hill on Sunday. Many tempting Irish food specials at local restaurants!

April brings melting snow and ice on the lakes. All that melting makes for great whitewater rafting on the Hudson River starting in Indian Lake! Check out the Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce website for rafting companies!

May includes many holidays, Cinco de Mayo at Chili Nights, Mother’s Day at all the restaurants, Town Wide Garage Sale and Memorial Day. The town wide garage sale is held on Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. The Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce dispenses maps to all the sales!

July kicks off with the town’s annual 4th of July parade beginning at Pelon Road and ending at Byron Park, where everyone enjoyed music and friendship. The night concludes at 9:15 with a wonderful fireworks display.

Adirondack Museum Antique Show will be held on August 14-15 in 2010. Check with www.adkmuseum.org for more details. Many tailgaters line up on front lawns along Main Street in downtown Indian Lake. Here is a sampling of some of the vendors.

New for September, Great Adirondack Moose Festival! The Great Adirondack Moose Festival, the first Moose Festival in New York State, is sponsored by the Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce and will be held Saturday and Sunday, September 18 & 19, 2010. The Moose Festival is designed to offer a purely Adirondack experience for everyone. You won’t want to miss this inaugural community-wide event, which will feature a host of Adirondack style and moose-oriented family fun activities. The Festival will include wilderness-guided hikes, an exceptional scenic driving tour, fly-fishing casting and fly tying demonstrations, Antique and Classic Car Show, Back Country Safety Program, Indian Lake Museum Open House, Adirondack Quilt Show, and souvenirs and treasures at the North Country Sidewalk Sales. A moose scavenger hunt, moose calling contest, moose related craft activities, pin the antlers on the moose, and a count the moose “poop” contest are among the activities planned for children. Capture the Festival spirit with Bruce the Moose and Smokey Bear souvenir photos. Last, but not least, bring your appetite and enjoy an Adirondack style breakfast and an old-fashioned chicken Bar-B-Q. October brings fall colors and of course the annual Halloween Parade thanks to Indian Lake Central School, which ends at the Indian Lake Fire Department for a party and truck rides!

November sponsors the Christmas Country Tour held on Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving Weekend. Crafters living in Indian Lake open their homes to shoppers with the sale of handmade and unique crafts. Demonstrations are also held throughout the tour.
